Rathdrum and Avondale Famine Walk (3 hours)

This guided looped walk is through a famine graveyard, woodland trails and alongside riverways with beautiful views of this wonderful part of County Wicklow. Enjoy the area’s surprising history and heritage.
You might want to visit the magnificent Avondale House, the heritage home of Ireland’s uncrowned king, Charles Stewart Parnell (1846-1891) and one of the greatest political leaders of Irish History, for a guided tour at the end of your walk.
Set in a magnificent forest park of over 500 acres this beautiful Georgian House was designed by James Wyatt and built in 1777.
The American Room in the house is dedicated to Admiral Charles Stewart, who was Parnell’s American grandfather who manned the USS Constitution during the 1812 war.
