Seaweed Foraging with Eco Active |Social and The Sea Gardener

Event Details

Join EcoActiveSocial for a fun day out with the wonderful Marie Power (aka: The Sea Gardener) for seaweed foraging at Cahore, Co Wexford.

This event is ideal for anyone interested in edible wild food and sustainable foraging and will be followed by a light lunch at The Strand Cahore afterwards.Β

We will meet at The Strand Cahore at 10 am Sunday morning 22nd May 2022 to car pool as parking is very limited at the beach. We will carpool to Glascarrig beach which is just a 2 minute drive away for low tide. After a short introductory talk Marie will show us how to best forage in a sustainable manner and identify edible seaweeds. Marie is renowned for her knowledge and experience on seaweed foraging and is a highly sought after guide – we are delighted to have her guiding us on this event!

Afterwards we will return to The Strand Cahore to enjoy a light lunch in comfortable surroundings. Join us afterwards for a relaxed stroll along the wonderful cliff walk (Cahore Point Waking Trail) with stunning views leading to a gorgeous sandy beach after lunch.

“Foraging for food from the wild is fun, enjoyable and healthy. Whether it’s a family outing in the countryside – or on the seashore – or as part of a wild survival adventure, foraging connects us to the source of our food and to the rest of the natural world. It opens up new taste experiences and can satisfy a need for exploration and experimentation. It can do lots of good things, not least, developing skills in self-sufficiency.” ~ Marie Power
