Green Pathways Career Training for the Unemployed

Green Pathways is a 27 week full-time course which combines specialised environmental training, an accredited work experience module, a practical work placement, an applied learning project, ongoing support and post-delivery supports including job clubs.

The programme caters for all age groups but will have a specific focus on the under 25’s. Each participant will undertake a 3 week induction period; training involving 3 FETAC modules to include: Work Experience, Sustainable Development and Ecology and the Environment and a period of 10-14 weeks work placement.

This programme aims to develop knowledge, skills and competencies specifically related to finding employment in the green economy and within a range of ‘green’ work contexts. It is designed to suit people from a diverse range of educational backgrounds.

The programme is eligible for those participants who wish to enter into green labour market, or re-direct their formative education towards green & sustainability routes.

Applicants for this Momentum Programme must be unemployed for 12 months or longer and be in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance / Benefit or on the Live Register for 12 months or longer. Eligibility must be confirmed by DSP Employment Services..

  • Applicants must be 18 years or older. The programme caters for all age groups but will have a specific focus on Under 25s.
  • Functional literacy and numeracy skills. Those qualifying without leaving certificate NFQ 4 qualification must be able to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy through previous work/life experience.
  • Willingness to commit to the programme schedule, activities, assignments, work experience and support meetings. Functional literacy and numeracy and basic IT skills. Interest in environment and a ‘green’ career
